Tips to help you get rid of the flu quicker

Influenza virus causes flu, which is a condition that can cause sore throats, fever, headaches, and other symptoms.

Although the doctor may prescribe medication to treat the flu, there are other ways to quickly relieve symptoms. Here are 7 tips:

1. Rest

To reduce the symptoms of cold and flu, it is important to rest. This allows the body’s energy to fight the disease. Being sick can lower your body’s defenses and increase the chance of being exposed to other infectious agents. It also delays healing.

2. Get plenty of fluids

Hydration is even more important when the flu causes fever. Dehydration could occur. When a person is unable to eat, fluids like fruit juices and teas, vitamins, and soups can be a great source of nutrients.

3. Only use guidance for remedies

Your doctor may suggest that you take aspirin or Ibuprofen to ease your symptoms and speed up your recovery if there are multiple symptoms. These medications should be administered only under the supervision of a doctor.

4. Use water and salt to gargle

Gargling with salt and water helps reduce inflammation and discomfort in the throat. It also removes secretions.

5. Increase the humidity

Increase the humidity in your room (bedroom or study) to lessen the discomfort of dry and coughing. You can do this by placing a bucket of water inside the room.

6. Hot water bottle

Sometimes, you may feel muscle pain. A hot water bottle can be used to relieve muscle discomfort.

7. Use a serum to wash your nasal hair.

Nasal washing with saline can help to reduce nasal secretions, which are increased during the flu and cold. It also helps to prevent headaches from developing.
