The selfie craze has taken the world by storm. Everybody wants to look good in their pictures. Do you feel distraught and helpless due to the visible hair fall or thinning that is spoiling your pictures?

In this article, Dr. Shankar Sawant will tell us about symptoms related to hair loss, hair fall tips, food for hair growth, and how to choose the best hair fall treatment. Dr. Shankar Sawant is one of the renowned hair transplant surgeons in Mumbai and he was the pioneer of the procedure in India.

Hair fall is one of the most common issues that men, women, and children suffer from. Around 85% of men and 45% of women suffer from alopecia. Hair loss could be a serious life-altering condition as it affects marriages and careers along with self-image and emotional well-being.

However, hair loss is not an unavoidable situation, a certain level of hair loss is normal. It is only when hair growth stops that one must visit a trichologist. Stress, medical issues, genes, and vitamin deficiency are also major reasons for hair loss. Getting enough vitamins will keep your hair follicles healthy and can reduce the stress levels too. So stop covering up your hair problems instead treat them with a hair fall treatment that treats the root cause of the problem and not just cosmetically or superficially.

Around 85% of men and 45% of women suffer from hair loss. Hair loss not only affects appearance but also destroys confidence interpersonal relationships and even careers. One survey reveals as many as 75 percent of all women think that balding men look less attractive. 14 percent more men with full heads of hair were selected for job interviews as compared to men with less hair. One of the most common and most dangerous misconceptions about hair loss is that it is a cosmetic problem.

In actual fact, it is often the result of an underlying medical condition. There are 40 different health disorders that could result in hair loss including anemia, nutritional deficiency, thyroid, diabetes and polycystic ovarian syndrome. So let’s stop you from running from parlour to parlour trying product after product by giving you the facts on hair loss.

A certain amount of hair loss is normal so no need for panic attack when you find a few strands in your brush. Overall people are overly disturbed and depressed over hair loss which in itself further aggravates the problem, sort of like a catch-22 situation, you worry about losing hair which causes you to lose more hair.

In treating hair loss, what’s important, go to the root of the problem? The cause for hair loss in different people is different so is the treatment. Hair loss treatment has to be individualized and personalized and why hope it is so successful with hair loss is because it’s solutions factor in each patient’s unique case history including all physical and psychological symptoms to diagnose the cause of the problem.

For example, when hair loss results from excessive stress, Acid Phos may be given. When women lose excessive hair after delivery the remedy Sepia maybe suggested. If your hair loss is aggravated after taking antibiotics Nux Vomica may help. In case of nutritional deficiency, especially iron deficiency Ferrum Phos is often given. For patients who lose hair due to hereditary problems Thuja may be recommended. Thuja is a natural DHT inhibitor. DHT is the hormone that triggers hair loss.

Hair loss problems largely result from a lack of knowledge on proper hair care. A few misbelieves are corrected and replace with some simple suggestions.

The first myth is that hair oil is some sort of cure for hair loss.

Hair oil merely conditions hair making it softer and more manageable and has little medicinal value. In fact, if your scalp is oily you don’t need to apply hair oil at all.

Some simple steps are recommended:

1. Instead of adding oil to your hair add protein to your diet. Hair is protein so eating dals and soya bean will help

2.  What you also need to include in your food is folic acid. Get your folic acid from beans, citrus fruit and leafy vegetables.

3.  Stay away from chemical hair products, blow-drying, perming and strong ammonia colors. All of these can cause damage to hair and lead to hair loss.

4.  Treat dandruff as often that’s the reason for hair loss. Anti-dandruff shampoos are not the answer. They contain strong chemicals and only provide temporary relief. Dandruff is often associated with skin problems like eczema, psoriasis and seborhoeic dermatitis.

So, while local treatments may be a quick fix, you need to consult a doctor for a long-term solution. If you suffer from heavy hair loss, it is better that you consult on dermatologist on ClinicSpots, which will give you all the information regarding the doctors, the procedures and the costs.

When your hair loss gets out of hand and your hair line is just receding rapidly, then it might be suggested for you to get a hair transplant.

There are two surgical techniques by which hair can be removed from a patient’s scalp, follicular unit transplantation (FUT) and follicular unit extraction (FUE). Regardless of which technique is used to remove the hair, the method for transplanting each of the grafts is exactly the same. When carrying out a hair transplant the surgeon must ensure that the donor hair is only taken from the safe donor region.

In an FUT transplant a thin strip of hair is removed from the donor region. In an FUE transplant each hair graft is removed from the donor region one by one, using a punch tool. Both techniques form scars. FUT forms one linear scar, whereas FUE forms multiple circular scars, spread across a large area. There are various other methods which are modified versions of FUE like DHI or robotic hair transplant. Once you meet your hair transplant surgeon, he will tell you the number of graphs required, the method you should opt for and the cost involved for the procedure.
