How do I make biryani?

Biryani is a mixed rice dish that is eaten in many countries with different styles. Here is a recipe to make biryani:

Preparing the Ingredients:

  • Wash 4 cups of basmati rice until the water runs clear, then soak it for at least 30 minutes to 2 hours.
  • Cut 2 onions, 2 tomatoes, and 5 green chilies into small pieces.
  • Cut 2 cups of mixed vegetables such as carrots, beans, peas, and cauliflower into small pieces.
  • Soak a handful of mint leaves and coriander leaves in water for 10 minutes.
  • Grind 3 tablespoons of ginger and garlic into a paste.
  • Roast 2 teaspoons each of cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom in a pan.
  • Fry 4 tablespoons of cashew nuts in a pan.
  • Squeeze the juice of half a lemon.

Cooking the Biryani:

  • Heat 4 tablespoons of oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add the roasted spices to the pan and sauté for a few seconds.
  • Add the onions and sauté until they turn transparent.
  • Add the tomatoes and cashew nuts after the onions turn translucent.
  • Add the mint leaves, coriander leaves, and green chilies to the pan and stir for a minute.
  • Add the ginger and garlic paste to the mixture in the pan and sauté for a couple of minutes.
  • Add 2 teaspoons of garam masala, 3 teaspoons of chili powder, and the mixed vegetables to the pan and sauté for a few more minutes.
  • Pour in 8 cups of water and add salt to taste.
  • Add the soaked rice to the boiling water and pour in the lemon juice.
  • Cover the pot with a tight lid and let the rice cook until done.
