Health Tips For Men Over 60

Your 60th birthday is the best way to feel like you are truly entering adulthood. You might be in the “prime” phase of your life at 60. However, age can make you more vulnerable to health problems. It is time to take control of your health.

Keep your muscles strong

After 30 years, you lose about 3-5% of your muscle mass every decade. This means that the average man will lose around 30% of his muscle mass over his lifetime. You can still keep your body healthy and strong with best supplements to take over 60 these basic health habits:

Regular healthy protein should be included in your diet, such as beans, Greek yogurt and protein powder.

Get enough sleep

Regular exercise that targets different muscle groups should be done with cardio and strength training.

Be aware of your waist

Your metabolism slows down naturally as you enter your 30s. If you don’t consider corn chips or diet soda a proper breakfast then it may be time to reconsider your diet.

Also, it’s a good idea to measure your waist. A waist circumference greater than 40 inches puts you at higher risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes and other dangerous conditions. This can be combated by regular exercise, eating a healthy diet, and enjoying moderation.

Give your heart a helping hand

Your risk of cholesterol buildup increases with age. You may also notice an increase in blood pressure. Don’t let this upset you. There are many ways to keep your heart strong and healthy, as always.

  • Consume fish and take supplements to get the omega-3s you need.
  • Keep your heart rate up for 30 minutes per day, five days a week or whenever you can.
  • If you smoke, quit.
  • Maintain a healthy stress level
  • Do not abandon your doctor

Even if everything seems normal, you should still visit your doctor for a yearly exam to check your blood pressure and cholesterol. If you have any health concerns, you can bring a list of questions with you to your healthcare provider.

Your bones are your most important asset

As we age, bone loss isn’t just a problem for women. You need to ensure that you get enough vitamin D and calcium in your diet. A daily multivitamin can help you do this, but make sure to check with your healthcare provider before taking any supplements.

Watch out for potential problems

Your risk of developing prostate and testicular cancer rises if you are over 60. These parts of your body are important to be aware of and pay attention to. Also, note any abnormalities or changes you may notice.

  • Frequent or painful urination
  • You can find blood in your urine or semen.
  • Testicular pain
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Tenderness or breast enlargement
  • A lump or enlarged testicle
  • Erectile dysfunction
